In most cases, the record transfer for incoming 9th grade
students attending local Catholic elementary schools is handled
by the elementary school office in conjunction with the Bishop
Sullivan CHS guidance office.
Parents of all other incoming students in grades 9-12 will
authorize Bishop Sullivan CHS to request from their student's
current school the latest report card, transcript, standardized test scores and a completed High School Recommendation Form from a school counselor.
In addition, all incoming students must provide a record of up to date immunizations. The Virginia Health department lists immunization requirements for school children on their website.
Admission testing is required of incoming ninth graders. The Terra Nova, a standardized achievement test given in local Catholic elementary schools, is used for admission decisions for students attending those schools. Eighth-grade students attending public schools or other private schools are invited to call the guidance office to arrange testing. For students not from the local area, other standardized achievement tests may substitute.
Decisions are made on a rolling basis by an admission committee. Parents and students will be notified by mail. Decisions may be deferred until midyear or final grades can be evaluated. Please remember that those families wishing to apply for financial aid should apply by the February 1 Parents’ Financial Statement deadline. Questions regarding the admission process may be directed to the guidance office. E-mail requests for applications or further information may be sent to admission@chsvb.org. The actual application may be downloaded here.
The Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School community has been greatly enriched by the presence of students who have come from overseas, and we welcome students with international experience and backgrounds. Since the curricula of international schools vary so greatly, each application is handled on a case-by-case basis. Please contact us at admission@chsvb.org if you have questions.
